Yellu Bella - Karnataka Recipes


Yellu Bella is one recipe in Karnataka which is prepared during Sanskranthi festival

Yellu Bella as the name says :"Yellu" means Sesame seeds and "Bella" means Jaggery. This is one recipe that we see from childhood being prepared during this festival and distribute among the family and friends.

Find below the steps to prepare Yellu Bella for this festival:

  • 1/2 cup Yellu or Sesame Seeds
  • 1 cup Groundnuts (Fried, skin removed and cut into half)
  • 1 cup Dhalia or hurigadale
  • 1 cup finely chopped dry coconut
  • 1 cup Jaggery, finely chopped

    Clean, wash, dried and fry the Sesame seeds.

    Then grate the dry coconut and cut into small pieces.

    Cut the Jaggery also into pieces, the jaggery we are using shoul be dried.

    Mix, all the ingredients together.
